For international students

A UK rent guarantor for international students

Most UK landlords ask for a guarantor who owns property in the UK. If your family is overseas, that is a requirement you cannot meet — however strong your finances are. Ehome steps into that role.

Why landlords ask for a guarantor

It is the default, not a judgement

Letting agents apply the same rule to every applicant. It is not about you or your means — it is a box on their form.

Overseas income does not satisfy it

Agents are rarely set up to assess foreign payslips, tax records or bank statements, so they fall back on the UK-guarantor rule.

The alternative is paying up front

Without a guarantor you are usually asked for six or twelve months' rent in advance, which ties up money you may need for fees and living costs.

What Ehome does

  • We act as your guarantor under a formal deed, so the landlord has a UK party to look to.
  • We assess your situation using the documents you already have, including your parents' records.
  • We work in Chinese and English, so nothing is lost between you, your family and the agent.
  • You deal with us directly — there is no agency chain and no referral fee added to your rent.

This is a guarantee service, not an insurance policy.
